FASCO

The information below was discussed at the FASCO meeting which followed the PIRSAC meeting September 11, 2008 in Jacksonville:

• Introduction of Board Members
  
  
• Vice President, KC Poulin, updated members on some of the new processes and procedures that FASCO Members can look forward to for the coming year:
  
  

• 2009 membership fees are due prior to January 1, 2009. You can currently print an application from the website and send it in with your dues. In the near future, you will be able to pay on line using pay pal. Notice will be sent out when this process is ready.
  
  
• New agency/corporate members will receive a plaque for their office wall.
  
  
• All members will receive a FASCO pin, certificate of membership and a copy of the Bylaws upon becoming a member. Bylaws were just updated and will be distributed to the 2009 membership.
  
  
• Sponsor memberships will allow vendors to advertise their products on the website and possibly provide discounts to our membership. Currently, Unitex Direct provides discounts to FASCO members who use their uniform supply business. Please provide the FASCO Board with any vendors you currently use in your business so that FASCO can reach out to them and encourage them to become a valued member. Please include the company name, contact person, address, phone number, fax number and email address.
  
  
• Everyone needs to assist in growing membership so that we will have the funds needed to support valuable legislation for the security industry.
  
  
• FASCO would like to present the Detain and Hold Bill again for the 2009 session but that will depend on membership growth.
  
  
• FASCO is currently organizing a “Presidents Council” between the associations representing the Security, Investigative and Recovery industries. The thought is that we share the same needs regulated by the DOL and together, we will be much stronger in getting our message out.
  
  
• FASCO is discussing the possibility of being part of the FALI conference which is held annually in Orlando. This will enable our members to get together annually to discuss topics and share information between the industries.
  
  
• FASCO is asking for volunteers to serve in a Regional capacity for FASCO so that we can be closer with our membership. Contact your board members if you are interested.
  
  

RUSSI AWARD NOMINATIONS ARE DUE NOW!!! We will be taking nominations for the John M. Russi Award through October 15, 2008 and the award will be presented at the December PIRSAC meeting in Tallahassee. Visit the website at www.fascofl.org for more information.
